Type: All Grain Style: BJCP 2008 - Standard American Lager
Recipe Notes: Tried to make this a Japanese style lager. Not really a style for that one. Came out great. And yes the bizarro lagering temps are real. Not required but it is what I did, and it worked. An odd experiment but it came out wonderfully. ??? Basically, I was lazy. I took it out for a Di-rest and forgot it for two weeks. I've made this before with normal lagering schedules. No difference perceptible to me.
I recommend that you pitch a large amount of 2007. Substitute base grain for the acid malt if you don't need or want it. I love acid malt.
I listed flaked rice on the recipe, no other options in the application. I used cheap bulk Riceland rice from the store. I cooked it normally with water only before adding it to the mash tun. A lot of folks slag rice but rice rocks in beer.
I listed ounces on nutrients and whirloc. Use the right amount the mfg. recommends. One dose.
Tasting Notes: Dry, crisp, with good body and mouth feel. This is the right hop for this style of beer. Would be great with sushi. Trying to make Kirin or Saporro style brew and it is on par. Very clean and clear, small ever lasting head and mild flavor. I plan to make this my first 10G brew.
